The LG U880 mobile phone marks another milestone in 3G technology. It was launched as the world's slimmest flip-open video phone, thanks to its 18.2mm depth. Of course, other manufacturers will try to beat it, but that's not the point. This is a mobile phone that's thin enough and light enough to slip into almost any pocket.
As you'd expect from a 3G handset, there's face-to-face video calling. LG's clever swivelling camera makes it easy to take photos, too. There's a 1.3 megapixel lens and a high-resolution screen that can be used as a viewfinder, plus an additional colour screen that graces the outside of the phone.
75MB of built-in memory and an expansion slot gives you plenty of storage space. Why? Well, this stylish camera phone doesn't just take photos. It's also a music and video player. Stereo loudspeakers will play MP3 tracks, while buttons on the outside of the handset make it easy to control your tunes.
Despite its sub-100g weight, the LG U880 finds room for a mobile internet browser, Bluetooth connectivity, email and picture messages. Once, 3G phones were large, clumsy and unappealing. This phone doesn't even glance at the past - it's looking towards the future. |
